Project Objective: To provide an opportunity for Delta Zeta members and other individuals either individually or collectively to celebrate Earth Day by planting an item in their community, on their campus, or any other area that will enhance the Earth.
Project Activities or Steps: Host a Plant Party. Choose a location to host the plant party. It may be an area on campus, the front yard of your home, a neighborhood park or another local site. Be sure you have approval if needed to plant in that area. Travel to a local greenhouse or other vendor to purchase an item for planting. Be sure to purchase an appropriate plant for the area keeping in mind the amount of sunlight, water, etc. that the plant may need or receive in that area. Provide a package of seeds to everyone who attends the Plant Party so that others may make the Earth greener even after they leave your event! Promote your Plant Party. Invite friends via e-vite to help you in planting your foliage. Use the e-vite to conserve paper and postage. E-mail friends and colleagues the e-flyer to let them know about your Plant Party. If you are hosting on a campus send the e-flyer to as many students and student groups as possible as well as university administration. Create a Facebook group about your Plant Party, using the Earth Day logo or Pink Goes Green logo to identify it. Ask as many people to join your group as possible. Send a press release (via e-mail) to the campus or local newspaper letting them know about your Plant Party. Click here for a press release template. Share your Plant Party Success . Share your Plant Party project on the Pink Goes Green website, www.dzpinkgoesgreen.org. Post photos from your Plant Party on the Pink Goes Green photo page.
